Lean on me

   I recently filmed for a commercial, however I had started to loose my voice the day before the shoot from lack of sleep (little William had been waking up at 1:30, 3:30 and 5am to eat.) Thankfully, I was reminded by my dear friend of something that I too often forget..."Remember, GOD WANTS YOU TO PROSPER. You're going to do great."

  I am finally going to lay down my pride and admit it, there are days that I need to be encouraged. There are days that I haven't brushed my teeth until 1pm, my hair looks like they are in dreadlocks, my boobs are leaking through my bra, I have puke running down my back, and am running on three hours of sleep. Maybe it's because I grew up surrounded by boys that I have it engrained in my head to always "tuff it out!" Well, I'm over pretending now! I need and that extra support from my girlfriends. And possibly a strong martini from time to time! We all need to be uplifted and encouraged at some point or another, even if it's simply a hopeful text messages saying "you're doing a great job!"

     Now that I myself am a mother, I value my girls at a whole new level. They have been my saving grace and I am forever thankful for them! From buying me breastfeeding tank tops, sending me anti-nauseousness care packages from Ohio, to organizing dinners to be dropped off at our house after the baby was born. My friends have been AMAZING!  Thank you LORD for the incredible women in my life.  Thank you for surrounding me with strong and encouraging women of faith, who have reminded me on a daily basis that I am an awesome mommy.  I hope that we can continue to prosper and inspire one another on this amazing journey of motherhood.

MCM: Billie Jo Hardin- Keller

        If I could describe Billie Jo in one word it would be "determined".  When I first met Billie Jo years ago, it was love at first conversation.  She and I would talk about our dreams and aspirations while I sat in her chair and she would work magic on my hair.  She told me then she wanted to travel the world and one day own her own salon and spa.  Well, those dreams are now a reality.  She is one of the most well traveled people I know, and is now the owner of one of the most beautiful salon &spas I have ever seen "Dolce Vita Salon & Spa."   This amazing women runs a business and still finds quality time to spend with her husband Nelson and her two beautiful daughters, Peyton and Jordan.

Q:What inspires you in everyday life?

  "Every morning I wake up, I make the choice to have a super duper day or a mediocre type of day.  I feel like I have so much to be thankful for. Let me start by saying I have all my limbs, I can see, smell, and hear, yes my “hair” could be thicker and I prefer not to walk out of the house au natural, but overall I have the essentials. Having a career I love, a great husband and two beautiful girls. I have learned to accept that a messy house, dishes, and laundry make up all the things that seem so stressful are actually a part of the life that makes me the happiest!

Life is too short to get caught up on things that won’t matter in 20 years, 6 months, or in 2 days. The moment I am home and hear the kids laughing is the moment I am inspired in a million different ways to stay active, work hard, set examples, and kiss and hug my family as much as I possibly can. For in the end, that IS what you are left with, Family."

Honest Hearts Produce Honest Actions

     I'm SUPER excited to use our new products from The Honest Company. The Honest Company is an ecofriendly company that sells baby/toddler supplies such as diapers as well as cleaning supplies.  The company was started by actress Jessica Alba and part of your purchase will help women and children in need.

Baby William loves having tummy time on his soft and cozy organic blanket. I sugguest purchasing straight from their website; however I did see that Target is now selling select items but they are generally more expensive.

Check out their website for a free starter kit.  https://www.honest.com/diaper-trial?sid=10002&cid=yahoo_bing&mid=search&aid=Diapers_Top:Diapers_Organic:_diapers_organic:Broad

Why We Are Obsessed with Avocado Oil

   A few weeks ago I was making my monthly adventure to Costco with my sister and stumbled upon my latest obsession, Avocado Oil. It was so worth the eleven dollars! Not only is it great for cooking but you can also use it as a beauty product. My husband makes fun of me because I literally use it for everything. I cook with it, wash my hair with it and use it as a face and body moisturizer.Unlike the well-known tea tree oil, olive oil and lavender oil, avocado oil has yet to be discovered by most people.  If your preggo this is perfect to moisturize your growing belly, and if you already have a precious little baby you can use it for healing diaper rash. You can even mix Avocado Oil and Organic Sugar and make an amazing sugar scrub exfoliant that will make your skin as soft as a baby's bottom. Im officially hooked on this stuff check out all the health benefits.

  • Protein and Fats. Avocado oil contains a high amount of proteins and unsaturated fats, both of which are strong skin agents. Avocado oil actually contains omega-3 fatty acids – those very same fatty acids as found in fish oil. Thus, not only can this oil be used as a beneficial lotion, but also as healthy cooking oil!
  • Sterolin. Avocado oil is high in a substance called sterolin, which studies have shown to facilitate the softening of the skin and to reduce the incidence of age spots;
  • Antioxidants. Avocado oil is rich in antioxidants, making it useful for healing sun-damaged skin. Antioxidants like vitamins A, D and E in avocado cause the skin to be suppler, and are thus particularly good for dry or aged skin.
  • Lecithin and Potassium. Avocado oil contains lecithin and potassium, which are all highly beneficial for the skin as well as the hair;
  • Moisturize the Skin. Avocado oil applied topically helps relieve dry and itchy skin. Once applied, avocado oil is deeply absorbed by the skin, thus making it an ideal moisturizer and skin care agent.
  • Boost Scalp Health. In addition to helping clear scaly skin, it can also relieve itchy scalp symptoms. Avocado oil, when regularly applied to the scalp, can stimulate hair growth.
  • Increase Collagen Production. When applied, avocado oil increases the production of collagen, which helps keep the skin plump and decreases the effects of aging.
  • Treat Skin Conditions. Avocado oil is useful in the treatment of a variety of skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis.
  • Others. Avocado oil facilitates the healing of wounds and burns to the skin. It also helps to relieve and heal diaper rash.

Facial Moisturizing
When using the avocado, instead of throwing away the peel sections, save them for your facials. The peel has a hidden reservoir of oil containing a substance called humectant that acts to retain moisture.
To use the peel, gently swipe it over your skin in upward massaging motions until you have covered your whole face.

Sucker for Seersucker

      We visited the Historical Williamsburg this weekend and stopped into one of my favorite childrens's clothing stores called The Carousel.  From living in the South I now ADORE seersucker and smocked clothing.  It took a while to convince me on the smocked clothing because some of the boy stuff looks like girls stuff but whatever, it's so stinking precious I can NOT resist it any longer.

Summer Time Dinner Party

  One of my favorite things to do is to host dinner parties with our friends.  If you can't tell I've become obsessed with blue and white and have started a little collection from the Raleigh Flea Market and other consignment shops around town.  At the end of the night one of my girlfriends introduced us to a hysterical game called Headsup.  You can download it on to your smart phone and it will be the best dollar you've ever spent.  I've also included my go-to salad recipe that is super easy to make and very yummy.

Strawberry Fields Forever Salad:
Two heads of boston or romaine lettuce
One 1/2 quart of strawberries cut into four pieces.
6 oz. of monterey jack chesse.  Shread fresh at home.
4 oz. of pecans.  Cook for 6 minutes at 350.

Dressing: BRIANNAS' Home style Blush Wine Vinaigrette Dressing

Pour dressing into a measuring cup and add 5 shakes of paprika and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil.
  Stir and then pour on top of salad.

Enjoy! XOXO TheeInspiredMommy
